del.icio.us

This post is a placeholder for the del.icio.us button that I've put on the side of the page. For those of you that don't know, del.icio.us is a collection of websites I've bookmarked (most of them are for school) so I can find them even if I'm not on my own computer. Anyways, del.icio.us tagroll follows.

Don't Second Guess

Note to self: when writing a midterm, don't second guess yourself.

Maybe this time, that "note to self" will stick. I've told myself that little tidbit who-knows-how-many times, and yet, what did I do in my midterm today, if it wasn't to second guess myself, and end up changing a right answer to a wrong one.

Fortunately, my self-second-guessing has cost me too badly yet; my Arky midterm was a 22/25 (a little low for what I wanted), my Early Christianity quiz was a 42/45 (a little better than I expected), and my Daoism was quite a pleasant surprise, coming in at a 31/30 (no typo there, I got more than 100%).

Next up, a presentation next week in my Early Christianity class (next Wednesday), and then it's on to final papers and final exams. December, here we come.

Merry Christmas?

I figured it was time for a new design; something a little less "spring flowers" and a little more "Christmas lights". 'Tis the season, you know. Of course, for all of you people that use Internet Explorer (which you shouldn't), it won't look right, but I've given up trying to fix a page for a broken browser. Anyways, since J "refuses to let me" ...put up any Christmas-y stuff around the apartment (including playing Christmas music) until December 1, I figured my blog is my own, and so it was time for a change ;-) Just kidding, J.

I've also started building a Christmas list. There's a link to it on the left of this page (the one that says "wishlist"). Basically, it's populated with a lot of books at the moment, because I can't think of much else. But at least it's something.

Speaking of Christmas shopping, I started doing mine the other day. But no telling as to what I bought!

I did buy myself an early Christmas present -- well, okay, not really a Christmas present, more like a study aid. ΑΡΕΙΟΣ   ΠΟΤΗΡ (AREIOS POTER: kai he tou philosophou lithos = "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in Ancient Greek!).

Alright, I have to go write a paper now.

Up this week: write one paper, start another. Greek midterm. Daoism presentation. I think that's it. So far.

Colored Bubbles (I'm Back!)

I'm still alive.

And I'm actually quite amazed by that fact.

This past week was a mess of midterms, tests, and other nastinesses, most of which are behind me for now. Just once quiz tomorrow, and that's it -- and I can't prepare for it.

Anyways, I don't really have much to report, so I will leave you with a link to the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. Seriously. Check it out. Read all the pages (yes, all 11)... it's a really interesting read.

The 11-Year Quest to Create Disappearing Colored Bubbles
Chemical burns, ruined clothes, 11 years, half a million dollars—it's not easy to improve the world's most popular toy. Yet the success of one inventor's quest to dye a simple soap bubble may change the way the world uses color
